Our Strategy
From our beginning as a small Saskatchewan-based driller, we have listened to our customers and paid attention to trends in the industry. Now we are a leading North American driller but that hasn’t changed.
We saw drilling in North America becoming deeper and more challenging as the easy production became more difficult to find. We responded by adding deep-drilling capacity rigs with new technology. The performance of these rigs has set a new benchmark for the drilling industry and earned the loyalty and commitment of our customers.
Trinidad’s ability to recognize and respond to trends gives it a competitive advantage. We grasp the opportunities, prove ourselves with our exceptional performance and while others are scrambling to keep up; we are expanding our operations based on our already established reputation.
Our customers have shown their appreciation and enthusiasm for our strategy with their order books. Trinidad has consistently outperformed the industry utilization rates in Canada by a wide margin for many years. We also have one of the highest levels of long-term, take-or-pay contracts for our rigs. Our customers have signed, and continue to extend, long-term contracts for our rigs to ensure they have access to the type of equipment that they are confident will provide the results they need.
Our strategy is not limited geographically. When we saw similar opportunities in the U.S., we used the same approach to expand south. In just three years, we have grown our U.S. operations to contribute almost half our business. And it doesn’t stop there. In 2008, we continued our move south, seizing opportunities in Mexico to prove our performance with our superior equipment and experience.
Our strategy hasn’t changed. We are still listening and paying attention to what we see around us. We will continue to improve our performance with new technology and we are already identifying new areas where we see opportunities to grow.
