Training & Development

At Trinidad, we believe in helping our people succeed. Our crews are some of the most skilled and knowledgeable in the drilling business, and we’re committed to growing their careers and keeping them safe. As part of that commitment, Trinidad created a company-wide training program called Trinidad Essential Skills Training (T.E.S.T.) to help ensure members of our team have a safe and successful career.

T.E.S.T. is a competency-assurance program that clearly defines performance standards for each position on a rig. Rig hands are assessed on these standards to ensure they can competently perform the skills required for their position. The assessment is designed to ensure field hands have the level of knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes required to do their job correctly and safely.

The program has four levels - Driller, Derrickhand, Motorhand and Floorhand and is designed to build the capability of our crew members at each level, strengthen team performance and keep our people safe. It also provides a clear career track from Floorhand to Driller, and beyond. Once the crew member has been trained in the essential skills for their role, they are ready to be assessed by the Driller or the Rig Manager.

The T.E.S.T. program is core to training and development for our rig team members. We coach crew members to excel at what they do and to work safely. It gives Trinidad a consistent level for each role across the company, improves safety and performance, and helps us deliver value for our customers. Our crew members understand what is expected of them and how they can move ahead in their careers with Trinidad. The experience that our people bring to their roles is valuable asset at Trinidad and where ever possible we promote from within.
