As an integral member of the Technical team, the Junior PLC Technician is responsible for construction, commissioning and field start-up of all electrical and control systems on our drilling equipment.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Design or modify electrical power distribution and control system schematics using AUTOCAD
Diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electrical components, assemblies, or systems
Install or maintain electrical control systems, industrial automation systems, or electrical equipment, including control circuits, variable speed drives, or programmable logic controllers
Assist in the development of new in addition to modifying existing PLC Programs (Omron CJ Series PLC’s)
Setup, Start-up and troubleshooting ABB ACS800 VFD’s
Knowledge of networks such as Profibus and Ethernet.
Setup and analyze information from data historians (Wonderware)
Collaborate with in-house Service Department personnel to troubleshoot electrical/programming related issues
Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures
Work in a safe manner
Extensive Travel will be required as well as on-call rotation.
Qualifications and Abilities:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technologist Certification
High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility and adaptability
Ability to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
